Philippians 2:5-7 – “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made into human likeness.”
The Gospel is enacted through local churches every day, all across the world. The church is us: people who love Jesus and serve him by: ushering, holding babies, teaching, visiting one another. Serving within the
church is one way to become a part of the PUMC family. The family functions best when all its members are helping, and we create deeper connections with God and each other. There are many opportunities to use your skills and talents both on Sunday mornings and throughout the week to help PUMC fulfill its mission “to create disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world”.
Teams, Ministries & Service Opportunities
Our Nurture Team is divided into ten (10) active ministry areas to offer various spiritual and physical support to other members of the congregation. Whether it is sending a card in celebration, preparing meals during surgery recovery or providing communion elements, we let others know they are surrounded by persons who care about them. Both our United Methodist Men and United Methodist women respond to temporary needs that arise from those in our congregation and Philly Friends exists to support young adults aged 18-23.
Our annual Fall Festival exists to welcome our surrounding community to the love of God on our campus and utilizes our collective talents. Nearly 100 volunteers are needed each year and opportunities vary from leadership and planning, to cooking and baking to welcoming and assisting our visitors.
There are many chances to become involved with our Sunday morning worship services. Like to talk to people? Become a greeter. Love children? Assist with our children’s classes. Interested in technical areas? Help with video and sound operations. Even young children can volunteer to be Acolytes.
Life Groups exist throughout the week to connect our members and grow their faith through fellowship and common interests. Life Groups need passionate leaders to bring persons together.
Let us guide you into following Jesus’ example of serving others.
