BIOGRAPHY
Becky earned a BA in public affairs and a minor in business from Columbia College, a United Methodist affiliated women’s college in Columbia, SC. While in college, she was active in the Wesley Fellowship group on campus and enjoyed participating in plays with other members of the drama department. After graduating, she attended the University of South Carolina where she earned an MBA and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary where she earned a Master of Divinity degree. Prior to answering the call to serve in full time ministry, she worked at The American Heart Association and at The United Way of the Midlands, both in Columbia, SC. In 1990, she began working as the Director of Congregational Care and Volunteer Ministries at her home church, Trenholm Road United Methodist Church in Columbia, SC. While there, she received training as a Stephen Ministry leader and as a Director for Rainbows grief support groups. While still serving on the staff at Trenholm Road UMC, in 1996, she was consecrated as a Diaconal Minister in the SC Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 1999, she was ordained as a Deacon and was appointed as an Associate Minister of Trenholm Road UMC. In 2006, she was appointed as the pastor of Johnston and Harmony UM churches and was ordained as an Elder in 2007. From 2010-15 she served as the pastor of Platt Springs UMC in West Columbia. In June of 2015, the Bishop appointed her to Philadelphia UMC to serve as the first female pastor of this congregation.
