Jim Lowder, son of a Methodist minister, grew up in a loving and musical home. His mother was a piano teacher, his father sang and played guitar and mandolin. His sister was an accomplished violinist, and a brother a fine trumpet player. Jim has played organ, keyboard and piano in many if his ministries. He is a versatile musician who loves the classic hymns and anthems of the church as well as the newer, ‘contemporary’ genre as heard on Christian radio. He also loves to compose new music for the church, especially songs and anthems for worship. He leads the Chancel Choir, Joyful Praize (3rd-5th grade choir), CORE (contemporary worship ensemble), and our handbells, the Jubilate Ringers.
Jim earned a BA in Music Composition and Theory from Duke University and a Masters of Church Music from Scarritt College (Nashville, TN). He has served churches in Greensboro, NC, Nashville, TN, Dyersburg, TN, Charlotte, Manteo and Belmont in NC.
