Director of Traditional Music
David selects hymns and leads music for the traditional worship service. He directs the chancel choir, adult handbells, as well as beginner handbells. He grew up in a small town called Ware Shoals (about halfway between Greenwood and Greenville, SC). He is a graduate of USC (BM Music Education) and Winthrop University (MM Music Performance). David has been serving churches through music ministry since 2004. He also teaches trumpet lessons privately at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, and is on the band staff there. In addition, he performs on trumpet with the Union Symphony Orchestra in Monroe, NC. David is passionate about church music, and believes in the power of music to help open peoples’ hearts and minds to receiving the word of God.
In college David performed with the USC Marching Band, and consequently is a die-hard Gamecock football fan! He also enjoys church softball (when his bum knee can handle it). David is an eclectic lover of music who enjoys classical, jazz, classic rock, and 90’s rock. He also enjoys all things Star Wars.
David currently lives in Rock Hill with his wife, Carrie, their two smart and talented sons, Jonathan and James, and their mischievous tabby cat, Leia.
